Rebalancing the Amygdala: Clearing the Alarm System to Restore Calm and Joy

Have you ever felt like your body was reacting to danger, even when there was none? That sudden rush of adrenaline, the tight chest, the urge to run, freeze, or lash out? These responses are often rooted in the amygdala, a small but powerful part of the brain responsible for detecting threats and activating our survival instincts.

Recently, I completed a masterclass focused on balancing the amygdala and its commissure, the bridge that allows both sides of this almond-shaped structure to communicate effectively. This work has deepened my understanding of how unresolved stress, trauma, and emotional memories can keep the alarm system stuck in overdrive.

What Happens When the Amygdala Is Overactive?

The amygdala is designed to protect us. When it senses danger, it triggers the fight, flight, freeze, or fawn response, flooding the body with stress hormones like adrenaline and cortisol. This is incredibly useful in moments of real threat, but when past memories or emotional imprints continue to trigger this response, it can lead to:

  • Chronic anxiety or panic
  • Avoidance behaviours
  • Anger or irritability
  • Fearfulness or hypervigilance
  • Difficulty experiencing pleasure or connection

In essence, the body keeps sounding the alarm, even when the danger has passed.

Clearing Blockages and Restoring Communication

During a Vital Energy Wellness session, we gently work to clear these energetic and emotional blockages. Using a blend of kinesiology, vibrational therapy, and intuitive energy healing, we support the amygdala in recalibrating its response. A key focus is ensuring the amygdala commissure is functioning well, allowing both hemispheres of the brain to communicate clearly and harmoniously.

This process helps the nervous system shift from survival mode into safety, presence, and ease. Clients often report feeling lighter, calmer, and more emotionally resilient after a session.
